INVOLVEMENT

Passion, community engagement, and volunteerism is a lifestyle for me. We must take ownership of our communities to keep them safe and clean for our families.

Service to our community

  • I was inducted into the Akaka Falls Lions Club on 3/1/2010 because I wanted to join in the efforts of this very respectable Community Service Organization, whose focus is also on Eye Care and Eye Health

  • I support youth programs that help our kids through positive mentoring in a safe and engaging environment. The B&GCBI intersects in a crucial period in pre-teens’ lives because of the positive role models, principles, and values that the B&GCBI staff instill in the students. The Club provides a safe haven for these kids when their school day ends. These student participants join the Club at an age and juncture when many of them are being exposed to negative influences, and the Club keeps them on the positive path

  • Many of my role models were coaches in the sports teams that I played on, which was part of the Police Activities League where many of the Coaches were active Police officers. I was also influenced in middle school as a Junior Police Officer (JPO) on campus

  • I had the opportunity to serve as a Fire Commisioner when my term on the Police Commission ended. Many of my friends are in the Fire Department, and I appreciated supporting these First-Responders. I came to understand the details of the work our Fire Fighters, MICTs and EMS provide to our communities throughout Hawai'i Island.

  • I enjoyed my work on the HIUW Board in helping to plan fundraising events, to review recipients of HIUW funding, and to bring awareness involving the many efforts the HIUW provided in supporting our islandʻs non-profit organizations.

  • Past President of the Diaconate Board and Deacon of Haili Church
